Some "Thank You Thursdays" are better than others.  Today we had a complimentary luncheon to honor one of our employees who purchased a home.  Home ownership is a big step in anyone's life but particularly for one who has stumbled on the walkway.  His story is worth sharing.  We will call him Will.

Will worked for another company for 28 years and was caught in the last economic down turn.  Prior to having his employer go out of business; Will went through a divorce.  He had a house on which he owed a reasonable amount of money.  When he lost his job, he soon lost his house which, post 2008, was worth only its mortgage value.  Then, perhaps due to his age, he found himself under employed and often unemployed.  He soon fell behind on support payments with a resultant incarceration.  After a couple of years of incarceration he found himself in a halfway house and owing more back child support than ever.  Many would have given up hope or gone on the underground, read, "no support payments", economy.  Will did not give up hope nor did he abuse the system.

Will came to us, and we hired him while he was in the halfway house.  It has been a win-win-win situation for "Will, his family, and GRK".   Will "won" because he is recognized and paid for his many contributions.  His family "won" because they are receiving support payments they are entitled to receive.   GRK "won" because Will is an excellent employee.   In less than two years Will has gone from halfway house to owning his own home.

It is a wonderful reason to have a "Thank You Thursday".  Enjoy the complimentary lunch Will.  You have climbed a mountain.
